Every spring community college marketing and public relations professionals from throughout North America gather at the annual NCMPR (National Council for Marketing and Public Relations) conference. This year the conference was held in San Francisco and provided the Casey team with a great opportunity to present itself to a nation-wide audience for the first time. Marketing Manager, Jasper Casey, knew he had to do something to make his company’s presence known. “At NCMPR, we wanted to showcase the advantages of executing an integrated marketing strategy for the purpose of improved response and results,” said Jasper. “What better way to do this than by simply employing our own recommended techniques?” In other words, Casey directly applied the same tools and methodology utilized to execute customer campaigns to promote themselves. No Respect? Why Print Remains a Force to be Reckoned With

Let’s face it, print has become the Rodney Dangerfield of marketing channels – it gets no respect. Sure, website analytics, Email best-practices, and emerging channels like mobile and social are glitzy and exciting, but are they really better than direct mail? After all, shouldn’t the most important measurement of the success of a marketing channel be based on recipient preference?

According to a recent study by Chief Marketing Magazine, consumers say they like print. While the focus of marketers has been on digital marketing channels, “old school, expensive” printed direct mail has been under the radar getting the job done. According to the study, 6/10 Americans (and 7/10 Canadians) enjoy getting direct mail to learn about new products. This preference toward direct mail spans all industry categories and age groups, including the tech-savvy generation of 18-35 year-olds. Read more

Thoughts on Thanksgiving

The times were tough. Credit was tight. Food was expensive. Fuel was dear  and shipping costs were astronomical. Jobs were scarce and the cost of living was out of sight. Health care was not readily available, and the political climate was in turmoil. The community faced a lengthy series of challenges, from bureaucracy and impatient investors, to internal conflicts and sabotage. They couldn’t sell their homes for what they were worth and the neighborhood was threatened by gangs.

And yet, the Pilgrims were thankful.We’rethankful too; for our families, our friends, our livelihoods and our country. We appreciate our freedom, where right or wrong, we make our own choices. Things aren’t perfect, but we’re proud to be Americans. Most of all we’re thankful for you all, our customers and friends. We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
